“It's a waste when a patent remains on the shelf. Then it is of no use to anyone."

After having graduated his study at the TU/e Eindhoven in 1998, he entered into service at Philips. In 2003 he successfully finished his MBA study after which he filled different technical and commercial management positions at Philips and Océ. Since September 2013 he has been working at AOMB as a patent attorney in training. It is expected that Marco will be registered as a Dutch and European Patent attorney in 2017.

Due to his broad experience in the business community and his extensive background, Marco has seen and done just about everything that could come up within a company. That is how he has developed an excellent sense of entrepreneurship, which enables him to think along with SME-entrepreneurs about the deployment of intellectual property at a strategic level.

Marco compares patents with tools; if you’re not familiar with them, you won’t use them. Buying it and not knowing what to do with it makes it end up gathering dust in some drawer. Marco’s greatest talent is, looking for reasons why purchasing intellectual property would be necessary, together with the SME-entrepreneurs. Once you are aware of that, you can optimally use it.

Marco describes himself as a quiet and accessible person who is always ready for a good conversation.
