Employed at AOMB since

2023

Obtained his master's degree in applied physics from TU Eindhoven in 2019. Korneel then spent the last 4.5 years pursuing a PhD at TU Munich and completed his PhD at the Chemistry faculty in 2023. During his PhD, Korneel worked on the development of an optical device and method to measure protein interactions using inorganic colloidal nanosensors. This gave him a broad background and allowed him to easily think along with the inventors. Understanding all the techniques from these different fields and translating them appealed to Korneel, and being the holder of two patents himself, he had already become acquainted with the patent profession. This eventually led him to the profession of patent attorney.

In November 2023, Korneel started as a trainee patent attorney at AOMB and is part of the High Tech team. With his extensive general knowledge of the three fields of physics, chemistry and biology and his focused expert knowledge of optics, photonics and quantum, he will be an enrichment to the team.

In his free time, Korneel enjoys being outdoors doing various mountain sports. He also enjoys brewing his own beer and has been a percussionist with the Drum Band of the Fanfare St. Cecilia Bocholtz for many years. With this he even became Dutch champion in 2015.
