Industrial Property Patents Course
Industrial Property Patents Course
This year Vera Op den Brouw (junior partner / European Patent Attorney) attended and passed the Industrial Property Patents Course organized by the University Politecnico di Milano on the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court. Vera was the only attendant from the Netherlands and in total only the second from the Netherlands.

The course included 5 months of weekly full-day (video) lectures from top lawyers and patent attorneys from all over Europe. Many of the excellent speakers were involved in drafting the UPC agreement and the related rules.

Last week the final week of the course included three full days of practical exercises and exams in Milano. Together with over 40 patent attorneys from all over Europe the participants discussed in detail the law related to the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court and how to apply it.

It was a very interesting course with an excellent overview over patent law in the different European countries that is recommend to everybody in this field.

We are happy that Vera has passed this course and the exam and therewith obtained a European Patent Litigator Certificate once the Unified Patent Court will eventually start. The Unified Patent Court has not started yet and it is not clear when it will start, but at AOMB we are ready for it once it does!
