Low-carbon energy technologies stand out as the predominant cleantech sector in patenting: In four years’ time this field accounted for over 78,000 International Patent Filings (IPFs), representing 32.1% in cleantech.

It’s encouraging to observe that, following a brief slowdown, the sector is once again experiencing significant growth.

The 3 runners-up (sustainable solutions for transport, plastics, and manufacturing) show a steadier but slower growth.
