Seminar June 19, 2008 Us Patent Practice

May 15th, 2008

Success is dependent on people with ideas. Continuous development and innovation are essential for success. You will therefore want to carefully protect your ideas. That way you can prevent third parties from being allowed to produce, sell or use your product, procedure or device. A comforting thought, but who can best help you achieve this aim? Algemeen Octrooi- en Merkenbureau specialises in protecting your knowledge and creativity, to enable you to turn your ideas into a success.
Algemeen Octrooi- en Merkenbureau protects your knowledge and creativity, the basis of your success.

European companies with international ambitions tend to focus primarily on the American market. Considering the closer similarities in terms of culture and language, doing business in the US is considered less complex than being active on the Asian market. And yet, in the US, too, European companies have to contend with competition, as at home in Europe. American competitors may use industrial property rights to try to thwart exports to the US or they may fail to respect American patent rights applying to a European company's European products and imitate the European products. European companies may also come up against all kinds of customs regulations affecting the import of European products.

This seminar aims to help you find your way through the Wild West of American patent procedures. What aspects should you consider if you want to protect your product in America? What could be the consequences of an American company accusing you of infringing upon its American patent rights? Would an American lawsuit mean the end of your company? All in all: the dos and don'ts for European entrepreneurs in obtaining and enforcing intellectual property rights in the USA.

We would like to invite you to attend the seminar on US patent practice on 19 June 2008.
The seminar will take place at the Eindhoven High Tech Campus (Conference Center The Strip, the ‘Ernst' room).

If you would like to attend the seminar, please send an email to  by 31 May at the latest.
