Kids invention from primary school St. Johannes in Mierlo wins inventors contest 'Uitvinden doe je zo !'
Yesterday 27 November nearly 200 children of five primary schools visited the High Tech Campus for the inventors contest "Uitvinden doe je zo !".
The five schools participated in the inventors contest for children organized by Algemeen Octrooi- en Merkenbureau, as one of her 40-years anniversity activities. The 'would-be' child inventors were invited by Algemeen Octrooi- en Merkenbureau for the Final Invention Election held in the Auditorium in The Strip at the High Tech Campus. The five participating schools each nominated one kid invention from several ideas invented and manufactured by the children in the period August-October 2007.
The participating schools (and their nominated invention) were: Openbare Basisschool Dick Bruna in Veldhoven (invention: a holder for the safe transport of a football on a bicycle), R.K. Basisschool St. Johannes in Mierlo (a support for a plate preventing the plate from flipping over when a baby slams on the edge thereof), R.K. Basisschool De Springplank in Vught (a blouse with removable collar), Openbare Jenaplanschool De Buizerd in Wijchen (a heatable ice-scrapping device) and Openbare Basisschool St. Christoffel in Waalre (a sock with zipper for the easy insertion of an leg protecting device).
AOMB also drafted and filed a patent application wih the Dutch Patent Office for each nominated invention.
The kids had to present their nominated invention to all participants, moreover a scientific show was performed. Finally the winner was elected, being the invention made by Floris, Thomas, Wies and Britt of primary school St. Johannes of Mierlo. Finally all children were offered a lunch with a gift (and ice cream prepared instantly from whipped cream and liquified nitrogen).
